Ke Engstrm and Eva Andersson This laboratory gives the scientific community an opportunity to at a low cost make use of recent developments in techniques and instrumentations for the analysis and identification of proteins. The facility for Expression Proteomics is equipped with 2-D electrophoresis systems, systems for post or pre-gel labeling of proteins, visible and UV light scanners, software for image analysis, spot picking systems, semi automated spot processing, and MALDI-TOF TOF and MS MS instrumentation. The facility has expertise for 2-D analysis, mass, spectrometry, image analysis, data base searches and general protein chemistry. Our area of work is analysis and comparison of proteomes, identification of proteins in protein spots bands by mass spectrometry, analysis of expressed proteins for quality control and analysis of proteins for post-translational modifications. The facility is open for all scales of problem solving or analysis, although the capacity for 2D gels might be a limiting factor for very large undertakings. The service is primarily intended for identification of proteins from species with large numbers of genes or proteins characterized. The facility has in addition a limited capacity for de novo sequencing of proteins from any species. The service includes straightforward methods for characterization of expressed recombinant proteins. Considering the low cost for analysis this is highly recommended to avoid the potential risk of doing experiments with the "wrong" or modified protein. An MS analysis of intact expressed protein and a peptide mapping with MS give much better confidence than a simple SDS-gel analysis. If suitable for our techniques and knowledge we provide analysis of any type of sample Organization The expression proteomics facility is organized for running samples for researchers or for the researcher to use the equipment after approval. The latter is recommended for longer series of experiments. Location Equipment for handling and performing 2-D gel electrophoresis experiments and MALDI-Tof Tof instrumentation are located at the Dept. of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology, Biomedical Center building D9 floor 3 ; , Uppsala. They will be used for different reasons but all are important to your recover and health. The transplant pharmacist will assist you to understand the purpose of each medicine. You will take the most number of medicines during the first year after transplant. You will take some of the medicines for the rest of your life. Please contact a pharmacist for other questions. The information below is a reference. Safety Information About Medications Please observe the following precautions when taking your medications. Remember that medicines can be dangerous, even fatal, if taken accidentally by a child. Make sure your pharmacy has put your prescription medications in child-proof containers, and store all your medicines out of the reach of small children. In addition: Keep a list of medicines and doses in your wallet or purse Bring a list of your medicines to clinic each visit Take each medication exactly as prescribed. Keep all medications in their original containers with labeling that shows the name, dosage, and expiration date. Keep your medications in a dry place away from heat and direct sunlight. Report any side effects of medications to the transplant team. Never change or skip a dose of medication. Remember, if you stop taking your immunosuppressive medications, your body will reject the transplanted liver. If you ever forget to take your medications, call your transplant coordinator as soon as you realize your mistake. Should you experience any vomiting that prevents you from taking your medications, or if you vomit immediately after taking your medications, call your transplant coordinator. Do not allow yourself to run out of your anti-rejection medication. Always keep at least an extra two weeks' supply on hand. When traveling, do not pack your anti-rejection medication and other medications in luggage that will be checked. Keep it with you in a carry-on bag or your hand bag. Always have your anti-rejection medication with you! Other Medications Do not take medication prescribed by other physicians until you check with us first. Because of your liver transplant and the medications you are taking, we prefer that you do not take some medications. Ketoconazole, Erythromycin, Diltiazem and Dilantin are just a few of the drugs that should be avoided, due to their interference with Prograf, Rapamune and Cyclosporin. Please call your transplant nurse coordinator about any new medication prescribed for you before you get the prescription filled. Be cautious about over-the-counter medications, too. You may take up to 4 grams per day of Tylenol as needed for minor pains, and you may take Dulfolax or glycerin suppositories as needed for constipation. In general, we ask you to avoid using Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Agents or NSAIDS for pain. Examples of NSAIDS are Advil ibuprofen ; , Anaprox, and Naprosyn Naproxsyn ; . These medicines can make you kidneys fail if used in combination with Prograf or cyclosporine. Please do not take any other over-the-counter medications without first checking with your transplant doctor or coordinator. Immunosuppressants Immunosuppression is a concept you need to understand in order to understand your care. Your immune system is a part of you that is able to recognize when foreign substances enter the body. Your immune system fights infection by recognizing and destroying foreign matter such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
Considered as the minimum requirement for fertility, were 1ml, 45x10[6] per ml, 75x10[6] per ejaculate, 57% and 28% respectively. Semen parameters with TTP of less than 6 months were grouped according to the mentioned cut-off points and the pregnancy ratio and relative risks of pregnancy were calculated for each group. The results showed no significant differrence between the relative risks for pregnancy with respect to the cut-off points. Due to lack of information on sperm parameters in different parts of the world, regional and national evaluations of these parameters is of great value for demographic studies. Genetic characteristics and regional climate as environment, may affect sperm parameters. Isfahan, for example, is situated in a region with warm and dry climate and this may justify the low mean volume and higher concentration of sperm in the obtained samples from the subjects and fosamax. What's a "carb"? There are 3 types of "macronutrients" in food fat, protein, and carbohydrates. Together, they make up all the "calories" that you find in any food. A "carb" is what you want to avoid, if you are looking to stop acid reflux, and stop it fast! It is easy to learn how to avoid or limit eating "carbohydrates", once you learn what they are and what foods they are in. For all packaged foods, you can simply look on the label it lists how many "carbs" there are per serving. Sources of carbs include: sugars, fruit sugars, flour, cookies, crackers, chips, and all grains because the body cannot use the starch in grains as fuel, they are all converted to sugars during digestion ; . So, things you need to avoid are foods like: candies, cookies, cakes, ice cream, pies, muffins, doughnuts, bagels, breads, pasta, rolls, cereals, french fries, excess fruit, sugar, soda, rice, and pasta. These are among the foods most commonly eaten by Americans, so you can see why so many people are sick! After your "acid reflux" has stopped, you can gradually add small amounts of these foods back into your diet. But at first, you really have to cut them out, to rid yourself of heartburn, acid reflux, and the other digestive disorders. The good news is, since "low carb" dieting has become so popular, there are now "low carb" versions of almost anything you would want and you can eat them instead.
